Alex Smith Is Grateful For His Experience At Utah After Hall Of Fame Induction

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah football legend Alex Smith is now a member of the Utah Athletics Hall of Fame.

Alex Smith and the 2021 class was inducted on Wednesday night, one day before the Utah football team opens the 2021 season at Rice-Eccles Stadium against Weber State.

Smith spoke to the media on Thursday, two hours before kickoff.

“Weird to say still,” Smith told KSL Sports. “Surreal, I never imagined when I stepped foot on campus almost 20 years ago that I’d ever be here and I would have been on this ride and certainly getting inducted into the Hall of Fame. It’s humbling, privileged to go in with my fellow inductees and enjoying it. I know how lucky I am. I’ve had such amazing teammates and coaches over the years, and especially when I was here at the U and certainly they deserve being here with me, all of them. Certainly, as a quarterback, I get a lot of credit, too much credit for success. I’m so fortunate to have had such amazing teammates during my time here. I know my name is on it, but certainly they deserve all the credit.”

The 2021 Hall of Fame Class includes: Lori Baird (volleyball), Anthony Brown (football), Casey Child (baseball), Eddie Johnson (football), Alex Smith (football) and Amy Timmel-Hogue (softball).
