SALT LAKE CITY – Morgan Scalley and the Utah Utes add another receiver to the cupboard after reportedly receiving a commitment from former Utah State wideout Braden Pegan.

According to multiple reports, the former Utah State wide receiver is committing to the University of Utah after entering the transfer portal in early December. He will be a senior in 2026.

Pegan spent one season in Logan, earning First Team All-Mountain West recognition under offensive coordinator Kevin McGiven.

The 6’3, 210-pound receiver started 11 of 12 games. He finished with 60 catches for 926 yards and five touchdowns, second most on the team.

Pegan had a career day against Air Force, tallying seven catches for a career-high 147 yards and career-best two touchdowns.

His three 100-yard receiving games tied for the fourth-most in the Mountain West.

About Braden Pegan

Pegan was considered a three-star recruit by 247Sports.com after a standout career with San Juan Hills High School.

The San Juan Capistrano, California native caught 72 passes for 971 yards and 14 touchdowns as a prep senior.

Pegan signed with UCLA out of high school but never got the chance to make a significant impact on the football field.

After playing four games on special teams as a freshman in 2022, Pegan made his first and only career start in the 2023 LA Bowl against Boise State.

Pegan recorded the only catch of his career that season in a game against the Cal Bears.

He did not play in 2024.
