SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – According to reports, coaches in the Pac-12 are becoming frustrated with the conference because they haven’t put a plan in place.

The Pac-12 CEO Group met on Friday night but did not vote on whether to start the season at the end of October or early November. The group will reconvene on Thursday to vote.

According to Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News and John Canzano of the Oregonian, coaches are getting frustrated with how the process has been handled.

Canzano noted that a handful of coaches in the conference are frustrated that the Pac-12 doesn’t have a plan in place despite making a deal with Quidel to provide rapid testing for antigens, which will allow for daily testing. During all of this, coaches have sent some players home and went on vacations but everything changed on Wednesday when the Big Ten decided to start their season on October 24. Now, the conference is asking coaches how soon they can get on the field.

It’s being reported that teams need four to six weeks to prepare for a season while others are asking for 8 weeks. Some programs have not had players working out regularly due to restrictions in their state as well as not having a plan to start in January. The conference announced in August that fall sports were postponed until at least January 1.

With the CEO Group meeting on Thursday, it looks more likely that the season will start on November 7 rather than October 31 which some teams hoped for.

One thing is for certain, Pac-12 and Utah football will be back at some point in the fall. Just need a plan from the Pac-12 that makes sense.
