Report: Utah Basketball Pausing Activities For ‘Foreseeable Future’ Due To COVID-19

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah men’s basketball program has paused all basketball activities due to COVID-19.

According to Matt Norlander of CBS Sports, the Runnin’ Utes will pause for the foreseeable future due to multiple COVID-19 positive tests in the program.
It was reported that Utah was going to begin the 2020-21 season on Friday, Nov. 27 but that game looks to be in jeopardy according to the report.

KSL Sports reached out to the Utah basketball program and was told by a spokesman from the athletic department that the team will “continue testing and look at things again on Monday.”
They did not address the report from Norlander.
Last Friday, Utah Athletic Director Mark Harlan met with the media after the football team canceled their game with UCLA. During a Zoom call with the media, Harlan talked about the positive tests from the basketball team and that practice was paused for the time being.
“Yeah, effective this morning. We got some positives on their daily antigen test,” Harlan said on Nov. 13. “We’ll have to confirm those with some PCR tests. But we have paused until we have a better understanding of that. They’re not confirmed tests yet. It’s fair to say it’s a handful.”
