Steve Smith Sr. Appears On List Of 100 Greatest Wide Receivers In College Football

SALT LAKE CITY – Former University of Utah wide receiver and legend Steve Smith Sr. was listed among the top 100 greatest WR’s in college football history.
Steve Smith had a great two seasons with as a college wide receiver with Utah football before he went on to the NFL to have an outstanding career.
According to “Big Game Boomer” on Twitter, Smith is the 77th greatest wide receiver in college football history. He is two spots ahead of former BYU star Austin Collie.
The list is led by “Megatron” Calvin Johnson from Georgia Tech, followed by Randy Moss of Marshall, Larry Fitzgerald from Pittsburgh, Justin Blackmon of Oklahoma State and Michael Crabtree from Texas Tech.
Smith is one of 15 players from the Pac-12 that made the list. That long list includes Keyshawn Johnson (No. 24) and Mike Williams (No. 26) of USC, J.J. Stokes (No. 45) of UCLA, Brandin Cooks (No. 46) from Oregon State, Dwayne Jarrett (No. 47) of USC, Mario Bailey (No. 54) from Washington, Johnnie Morton (No. 57) of USC, Mike Hass (No. 59) from Oregon State, Desean Jackson (No. 62) of Cal, Marqise Lee (No. 64) from USC, Derek Hagan (No. 84) of Arizona State, Reggie Williams (No. 87) from Washington, Troy Walters (No. 96) of Stanford and Sean Dawkins (No. 99) from Cal.

Smith played for the Utes from 1999-00, where he appeared in 21 games. He racked up 78 receptions for 1,603 yards and 12 touchdowns. As a kick returner, Smith had 72 returns for 860 yards and four touchdowns. After his time at Utah, Smith was taken in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers with the 74th overall pick.
Smith is heavily involved with the Utah football program and is often at practices and around the players and coaches. He also was in attendance at the Rose Bowl against Ohio State.
