LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The UCLA football team is ready to come to Salt Lake City and prove they are the tougher than the Utes according to Bruin wide receiver Ethan Fernea.

The wide receiver was asked if the Bruins relished the opportunity to face a good defense like the Utah Utes during UCLA football media availability on Wednesday, November 6.

“Utah’s known for being tough but I think that we’re ready to go out and show that we’re the tougher team,” said Fernea. “That’s one thing that we pride ourselves on throughout the offseason, every day in practice, being mentally tough so I’m looking forward to it.”

“I know they’re a pretty good team,” said Fernea on what he knows about the Utes. “I think they’re pretty physical but I think that we can match that. We’re a tough team. Yeah, we’re looking forward to the opportunity.”

Fernea is a senior for the Bruins. He’s appeared in 30 games in his college career. In those games, he’s posted six catches for 109 yards and one touchdown. He’s also recorded seven tackles on special teams.

The wideout is coming off of the best two-game stretch of his UCLA career. He’s recorded a combined four receptions for 90 yards and a TD in the Bruins’ victories over Arizona State and Colorado.

The Utes have defeated the Bruins in the last three meetings between the two Pac-12 south schools.

Utah (8-1, 5-1) and UCLA (4-5, 4-2) are both on bye weeks before the No.8 Utes host the Bruins on Saturday, November 11 at 6 p.m. (MDT). The game will be broadcast on FOX and 700 AM.
