SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah Athletics department is showing support for Black Lives Matter with a video that they sent out on Twitter on Monday.

The video was narrated by student-athletes which said the following:

“Black lives should not be measured based on their ability to play a sport. Do not watch us on the field if you won’t say our names. Speak up when you hear our pain. Use your privilege to denounce systemic racism and racial injustices. Stand with us in solidarity. If you cheer for me when I wear the ‘U’ then support me when I need you most. Be my ally, on and off the court. Don’t live in comfortable silence, University of Utah Athletics stands in solidarity.”

Utah is asking for support by donating to blacklivesmatterutah.com or by visiting diversity.utah.edu/center/bcc for on-campus resources.

Director of Athletics for Utah, Mark Harlan tweeted that he is proud of their student-athletes.

Former Utah cornerback Mo Lee said that it was a “proud day to be a Ute” on Twitter.
