SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – News broke Tuesday morning that Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer would retire from coaching. Many in the Beehive State feel a closeness to Meyer, who coached the University of Utah to a 22-2 record from 2003-04.
Here are some locally-related reactions to Meyer’s retirement:
I wonder…what would Utah be like if Urban Meyer had never swung through the Beehive state on his coaching tour? 2004, 2008 likely wouldn’t have happened. Without, I don’t see the Pac-12 adding Utah. If they never left the MW, BYU would’ve stayed and the WAC would still exist.

It’s too bad Utah football couldn’t take care of business and get into the Rose Bowl. Utah vs. their former coach Urban Meyer in his last game would have been epic. 🤷🏼♂️

Thank you Urban Meyer for everything you did at the University of Utah…

Honestly the most impressive victory of Urban Meyer career might have been going undefeated at Utah and demolishing Pitt in 2005 BCS bowl game. That win elevated Utah into the program it is now.

Much love for the two #Utah coaches in the news — #JimBoylen and now #UrbanMeyer — they’ll always be Utah coaches to me, don’t @ me. #GoUtes pic.twitter.com/VI6zRcWWSP

How cool it would have been for Urban Meyer to coach against Utah in his final game? Wish it could have happened.
