Utah Football Announces Team Captains, Leadership Council

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah football team released their team captains and leadership council that was voted on by the players.
For the second straight season, linebacker Devin Lloyd and defensive end Mika Tafua were named captains for Utah. The team is asked to vote for two players on offense, two players on defensive and a member of special teams.
Representing the offense is quarterback Cameron Rising and wide receiver Britain Covey for the first time in their careers. For special teams, long snapper Keegan Markgraf was voted a captain.

Those five players are also a part of the leadership council, which has 16 members. On the leadership council is quarterback Charlie Brewer, who was reportedly named the starter. Also, wide receiver Solomon Enis, tight ends Cole Fotheringham and Brant Kuithe, running back T.J. Pledger and offensive lineman Nick Ford from the offense. From the defense, safety Vonte Davis, defensive tackle Devin Kaufusi, cornerback Clark Phillips III, defensive tackle Hauati Pututau and linebacker Nephi Sewell.

Utah will open the 2021 season against Weber State on Thursday, September 2 at 5:30 p.m. MT on the Pac-12 Network.
