Utah Football Receives Commitment From Defensive End Viliami Pouha

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah football team received a verbal commitment from local defensive end Viliami Pouha on Monday evening.

Viliami is the son of Utah’s defensive tackles coach and former Utes standout Sione Pouha.
Pouha is a three-star defensive end from Bingham High School. He is the 71st ranked defensive end in the country and the No. 10 prospect in the state of Utah.
He announced his decision on Twitter on Monday night.
“I would like to thank my father in heaven for blessing me with the best parents, for pushing me to be my best and guiding me to become the best I can,” Pouha wrote. “I would also like to thank the coaching staff and the University of Utah for giving me the opportunity to continue my passion for football and help further my education. I would like to commit to the University of Utah. GO UTES!!!”

Pouha’s other offers included UNLV and Washington State. His primary recruiter from Utah is defensive line coach Lewis Powell.
The Utes continue to recruit players despite not being able to go out and visit the prospects. Last week, Utah received a commitment from offensive lineman Kolinu’u Faaiu.
As of right now, the Utes have five prospects that have verbally committed including Pouha, four-star quarterback Peter Costelli, three-star linebacker Trey Reynolds, three-star offensive lineman Kolinu’u Faaiu, and Snow College transfer defensive tackle Tevita Fotu.
