Utah Football Recruiting Round-Up: August 19th, 2024

SALT LAKE CITY – It’s been a pretty successful summer of recruiting for Kyle Whittingham’s Utah Football program. The Utes have secured 18 commitments in their 2025 recruiting class and are roughly 10 days away from the season opener.

Though a lot of the heavy lifting is done, there is still a lot happening on the recruiting trail for Utah. Focus has shifted to other priorities but there are still a few important targets Utah would love to secure in this class.

In this week’s Recruiting Round-Up, there’s a significant update in Jerome Myles recruitment, as well as a handful of others on 2026 in-state prospects.

Jerome Myles has set a commitment date

Corner Canyon’s Jerome Myles has set a date for his commitment announcement. He will make his decision known on October 30th and will choose from one of Georgia, Ohio State, Texas A&M, USC, and Utah. That list of five schools is as impressive as they come, which speaks to Myles talent level and potential.

Utah has made it clear to Myles how big of a priority he is to them. After speaking with multiple sources over the weekend, the Utes continue to hold onto a pretty favorable position in his recruitment.

Former Corner Canyon teammate Isaac Wilson is currently making positive headlines in his first season with the Utes. That relationship is viewed as another beneficial factor in the program’s recruitment of him. However, there is a long way to go between now and October 30th.

Despite liking where Utah stands, there is still a sense of caution regarding Utah’s chances at actually securing Myles’ pledge. High-profile recruitments- ones that include the Georgia’s and Ohio State’s of the world, can see drastic and unforeseen changes at a moment’s notice. Keep that in mind as we move closer and closer to his commitment date.

Regardless, Myles got off to a strong start in his senior campaign on Friday. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound receiver hauled in four receptions for 120 yards and one touchdown- an 80-yard score, in a 70-42 win over American Fork.

2026 in-state recruiting updates

Corner Canyon WR, Kai Meza – Jerome Myles is not the only dynamic Corner Canyon pass catcher who has Utah’s attention. The 6-foot, 185-pound athlete got off to a good start as well on Friday. He finished the game with 92 yards and one touchdown on three receptions. Meza has earned five scholarship offers from Boise State, San Jose State, UNLV, Utah State, and Utah. His recruitment should grow this season and with a good, consistent effort on the field. That would likely lead to Utah’s interest increasing as well.

Orem TE, Kai Wesley – The big tight end got off to a good start for Orem in a 35-13 win over Pleasant Grove on Friday. The 6-foot-7, 225-pound multi-sport athlete has settled in nicely as a tight end. He’s shown impressive ability for a kid of his stature. Wesley is still pretty open to options and he’ll likely see more interested suitors enter the picture this season. He’s closing in on double-digit offers with programs like Baylor, Texas Tech, and Washington starting to communicate their interest in him. Utah has done a good job so far and Wesley appreciates the Utes’ focus on the tight end position.

Lehi TE, Bryton Niu – Across the country, the 2026 class is loaded with good tight end prospects. The state of Utah alone has three very promising ones with Wesley, Brock Harris, and Bryton Niu. The Lehi product has emerged over the last few months as another talented pass catcher. The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder is closing in on double-digit offers. His most recent offer came from Utah and that’s significant for Niu. He’s developed a good relationship with Freddie Whittingham and he is a big fan of his former training parter, Dalton Kincaid.

Bingham DT, Viliami Moala – The power defensive tackle out of Bingham has seen his recruitment pick up steam over the last year. Moala is trying to take it all in and enjoy the process. The 6-foot-3, 305-pounder has 15 offers and is taking an open mind to his recruitment this year. Oregon, USC, and Utah are among some of the programs that have developed a good relationship with him so far. Meanwhile, other programs like Stanford, Michigan, and Texas A&M have opened lines of communication with him as well.

Lehi OL, Tommy “Rock” Olsen – The big man got off to a strong start in his senior season. The 6-foot-6, 275-pounder has made the move outside to tackle and showed promise. He’s locked in with Utah State but with a good showing through the first half of the season, that could lead to other programs- like Utah, entering more prominently into the picture.
