Recruiting Angle: Utah Football’s Official Visitors For May 30

SALT LAKE CITY – There’s a big opportunity for Utah football this weekend on the recruiting trail. Kyle Whittingham’s program is gearing up for a pivotal recruiting weekend as it hosts a group of promising official visitors.
This kicks off a big month of recruiting across the country. The Utes have two commits in their 2026 class and hope to add the bulk of their class from the list of visitors this month.
Despite last season’s struggles, the Utes still finished with one of the better recruiting classes in the Big 12. With a refreshed outlook for the 2025 season, the Utes can get off to a good start on the trail this month. The coaching staff’s ability to connect with these recruits and showcase the program’s strengths will be crucial in turning visits into commitments.
As the weekend unfolds, Utah fans will be watching closely, hoping for positive news that could shape the team’s future success.
Utah Football’s Official Visitors For May 30-31
Salesi Moa – ATH, Fremont HS (UT)
.9702 Four-Star | No. 57 Overall | No. 6 Athlete
Standing at 6-2, 190 pounds, Moa is an absolutely dynamic athlete who is a two-way threat at wide receiver and safety. Utah is recruiting Moa primarily as a receiver. Still, he would certainly utilize him as a two-way player. The competition is stiff with Michigan (visiting June 13), Michigan State (April 2), Tennessee (June 20), and Washington (May 28) in the mix. Moa is the top-tier talent Utah needs in this class, and though they work to do in his recruitment, Utah offers him a very clear path to making an early impact.
“My relationship with Utah is a great relationship, the coaches are always hitting me up, and I’m always hitting them up,” Salesi Moa shared at the UA Next Camp. “They’re actually recruiting me mainly for receiver, I’ve talked to coach Beck, coach Simon, all those guys.”

Kelvin Obot – OT, Fruitland HS (ID)
.9414 Four-Star Rating | No. 130 Overall | No. 9 Tackle
At 6’5″ and 295 pounds, Obot is among the top offensive line prospects in the country, and his recruitment reflects that. He’s narrowed down his list of schools to Michigan (June 20), Nebraska (June 6), Oregon (June 13), and Utah (May 30). The Utes view Obot in the same mold as Spencer Fano and Caleb Lomu, two tackles who played early and quickly developed into top-tier prospects for the NFL.
Chance Collins – S, Mansfield Timberview (TX)
.8940 Four-Star | No. 373 Overall | No. 34 Safety
Collins is a versatile athlete, but is being recruited as a safety. He was a high school teammate of Nathan Tilmon and Dilan Battle, who are both true freshmen this season. Collins is down to Utah, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M. The Utes get the first opportunity to make an impression and set the bar in his recruitment. Utah is in a good spot, but needs a strong visit experience to capitalize.
Pulelei’ite Primus – OL, Midland HS (TX)
.8833 Three-Star | No. 521 Overall | No. 47 Interior Lineman
Another offensive lineman, Primus, will add significant size and strength to the offensive line. Known for his physicality and footwork, he’s a prospect with significant upside. Utah competes with Washington, Houston, USC, and TCU for Primus.
Lopeti Moala – DL, Orem HS (UT)
.8650 Three-Star Rating | No. 928 Overall | No. 96 Defensive Lineman
Moala is a disruptive force on the defensive line. His strength and agility allow him to play fairly effectively on the edge or the interior. This one has a strong Utah vs BYU feel to it. Despite the summer visits, Moala may not decide until December. He will serve a mission out of high school, which extends the proverbial finish line in his recruitment a few years.
“It’s been pretty steady, talking a lot with Utah and BYU,” Lopeti Moala previously told KSL Sports. “It’s been great getting to interact with all the coaches and see what their schools are about. I want to go to a school that will respect my decision to serve an LDS mission, while also giving me an opportunity to contribute right away.”

Kaue Akana – WR, Orem HS (UT)
.8752 Three-Star | No. 682 Overall | No. 44 Athlete
Akana is a dynamic receiver with excellent hands and route-running abilities. He’s already visited UCLA (May 9) and visits Utah this weekend, with visits to USC (June 6) and BYU (June 13) scheduled after. Akana is one player that Utah has quietly gained ground with but still face an uphill battle against the other contenders.
Jaxson Gates – CB, Damien HS (CA)
.8675 Three-Star | No. 876 Overall | No. 71 Cornerback
At 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, Gates is an impressive corner prospect thanks to good size and athleticism. He committed to Syracuse back in November but is going to take visits to Utah this weekend, Syracuse next weekend, and Michigan State the week after. His quick reflexes and ball-hawking abilities make him a valuable addition to any secondary.
Adam Bywater – LB, Olympus HS (UT)
.8600 Three-Star | No. 105 Linebacker
Bywater is a promising defensive athlete with the frame to play linebacker at the next level. His recruitment is centered around Utah (May 30), Boise State (June 12), and BYU (June 20). This is a pretty heated recruitment between the three programs, all of whom have a legitimate shot at landing the promising Olympus defender.
“Honestly, those three schools are all pretty much even,” Adam Bywater said of the schools he’s visiting. “It’s been really fun to see all the different coach styles and talk to them to see how they feel they can develop me.”

Carter Stewart – S, Shadow Creek (TX)
.8485 Three-Star | No. 1223 Overall | No. 108
After offering three weeks ago, the Utes have quickly made a big move to secure an official visit with Stewart. The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder is a promising safety prospect. He also competes in track, which is evident in his athleticism. Stewart has the sort of makeup to be a very effective defender in the defensive secondary. Stewart has already visited SMU (May 2) and will officially visit Arizona State (June 6) and UNLV (June 13).

Kohen Brown – WR, Waxahachie (TX)
.8840 Three-Star | No. 512 Overall | No. 84 WR
Another dual-sport, track athlete, Brown is a fantastic wide receiver prospect. At 6-foot, 190 pounds, he has multiple sub-11-second 100-meter times, which make him a dynamic threat. He has the speed to stretch the field vertically, as well as the playmaking ability after the catch. Utah enters the competition against Texas (June 6), Notre Dame (June 13), and Ole Miss (June 20).
LaGary Mitchell – LB, Meridian (ID)
.8470 Three-Star | No. 1235 Overall | No. 107 LB
One of the top linebackers out west, Mitchell is a promising athlete for the position. He committed to Boise State last fall and remains pretty locked in with the Broncos. However, Utah has done a good job of maintaining their relationship with him since his pledge. Mitchell has two visits scheduled: Utah this weekend and Boise State next weekend.

Major Hinchen – CB, La Quinta (CA)
Hinchen does not currently have a recruiting rating or ranking, but his recruitment has gained significant momentum. Hinchen is a 6-foot-2 cornerback prospect who has added offers from Utah, BYU, Boise State, Cal, and Missouri, among others.
Utah has finalized its official visitors list for the weekend, and it’s a pretty exciting list of visitors. Whittingham’s program will put its best foot forward with each prospect and their respective recruitments.
