Utah QB Jake Bentley Plans To Play This Season, Fully Supports ‘We Are United’

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah senior quarterback Jake Bentley announced on Twitter that regardless of what happens with negotiations with the Pac-12 conference and the student-athletes, he plans on playing this season.

Bentley will be competing for the starting quarterback position with Cameron Rising and Drew Lisk.
He announced his decision on Twitter on Sunday.
“I believe change needs to happen,” Bentley wrote. “I fully and wholeheartedly support my brothers from around the Pac-12 that are fighting for change. These unprecedented times have put a strain on everyone involved. I’m so excited to see how impactful this push for change will be. I’ve fought through a lot to be here in this moment, and given the circumstances of my situation and battling back from injury, I fully plan on playing football this season. I’ve talked to teammates about this who fully support me just as I fully support them. I can’t wait to enjoy my last year of college football as a Utah Ute.”

Bentley joined the Utes as a graduate transfer from South Carolina.
Pac-12 student-athletes tweeted on Sunday that “We Are United.” The student-athletes posted on The Players’ Tribune a list of demands and changes that they want to see in college sports that includes COVID-19 testing protocols and safety concerns along with social justice issues and other problems that college athletes go through each year.
