Utah Utes Women, Men Handle Business In Basketball Double-Header

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah women and men’s basketball teams officially tipped off their 2023-24 seasons handling their business at home in a double-header.
The women got things started first hosting Mississippi Valley State in a 4:00 pm MT affair that ended in convincing fashion for the Utes, 104-45.
Utah’s men tipped things off later at 7:30 pm MT against Eastern Washington finishing with an impressive 101 – 66 final score.

Pili was a staggering 7-7 from the paint and 2-2 from the three while hitting 10 of 12 at the line. She also added three rebounds and two steals in 16 minutes of play.
Kneepkens came in second in scoring with 18 points along with her team leading rebounds and assists going 5 of 9 from the field, 4 of 6 from the three, and 4 of 5 from the line in 28 minutes of play.
Lani White added 15 points of her own going 6 of 7 from the paint, 2 of 3 from the three and 1-3 from the line while also adding two rebounds and three steals in 15 minutes of play.
Noteworthy Women’s Basketball Team Stats
The Utah women had a nice night as team shooting 58% from the field and making 35 of 60 total shots. The Utes also put up 41% shooting from the three going 13 of 32 and 70% from the line with 21 of 30 shots made.
Utah took advantage of 28 MVS turnovers for 40 points while pulling down 46 total rebounds as a team, one block, 18 steals and 30 assists.

Madsen went 8 of 12 from the paint and 4 of 7 to earn his team high 20 points. Madsen was also good for five rebounds, one block and two steals in 22 minutes of play.
Cole Bajema was good for 17 points and Rollie Worster brought in another 15.

The Utes were 55% from the field, 44% from the three, and 68% from the line shooting against EWU.
Utah collected 48 team rebounds, six blocks, 10 steals and 18 assists.
