Utah’s Victory Over Washington State No. 100 At Rice-Eccles Stadium

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah football finished their 2020 season with a 45-28 win over Washington State.

They were able to overcome a 21-point deficit in the second half to pick up the win. The wild and crazy win for Utah was their 100th victory at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
The stadium opened in 1998 and has hosted many classic games along with the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.

Utah Athletics posted a video of some of the most memorable football games at Rice-Eccles Stadium including a 31-24 win over California on September 11, 2003. Hosting College Gameday on November 20, 2004 when the Utes beat BYU 52-21. The huge win over TCU on November 6, 2008 and then beating BYU 48-24 to clinch a berth in the Sugar Bowl on November 22, 2008.
Other memorable games include Utah’s first signature win since joining the Pac-12 when they knocked off No. 5 Stanford 24-21 on October 12, 2013. Also, spoiling Jim Harbaugh’s debut versus Michigan with a 24-17 victory over the Wolverines on September 3, 2015. One of the most recent wins was their comeback win over BYU 35-27 on November 24, 2018.
Obviously, the win on December 19, 2020 to end the season with a 21-point comeback was up there as well.
It was also Kyle Whittingham’s 200th game as the head coach of the Utes. He is the third longest tenured head coach at the same school in the FBS. Including his time as an assistant at Utah, Whittingham has coached 326 games and has been a part of 219 wins which is more than anybody in program history.
