Utes Land Former Texas QB Cameron Rising

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Texas quarterback and four-star recruiting prospect Cameron Rising announced that he will be transferring to Utah.
Rising was star at Newbury Park in California before committing to play for the Longhorns in 2017. He was ranked as the nation’s 11th-best pro style quarterback in high school.

He did not appear in a single game for Texas last season and will have to sit out next season due to the NCAA’s transfer rules. He will then have three years of eligibility left for the Utes.
Tyler Huntley is presumed to return as the starter for Utah next season. He quarterbacked the Utes most of last season until an injury forced him to miss the final four games of the season. Next season will be his senior year with the program.
In Huntley’s absence, redshirt freshman Jason Shelley stepped up and led Utah to wins over Colorado and BYU. He was also the losing quarterback against Washington and Northwestern.
The Utes will begin their 2019 season against BYU on Aug. 29th at BYU.
