Van Dyke Drops 7 Threes In Utes Win Over Arizona

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah took their hot road streak to the Huntsman Center as they beat the Arizona Wildcats 83-76.

Parker Van Dyke had a career-high 23 points to lead the Utes, including 7-of-10 shooting from downtown. Sedrick Barfield poured in 15 points and 6 assists, while Jayce Johnson notched a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Timmy Allen chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds.

Dylan Smith scored 16 points for Arizona, Ryan Luther dropped 14 points, as they were two of the four Wildcats to score in double figures.

Van Dyke Rolling In First Half

Both teams had a tough time hitting shots early in the first half.

Parker Van Dyke provided the Utes with a huge spark as he scored 15 of the first 23 points for the Utes on 5-for-5 shooting from downtown.

Only four points between both teams were scored in a three minute span and the game was tied at 25 with 3 minutes left until halftime.

The Wildcats had a small lead going into the locker room, holding a 32-31 advantage, despite the Utes making seven of their 16 attempts from beyond the arc.

Utah Storms Wildcats In Second Half

It took the first 10 minutes of the second half for the Utes to create separation in the game. They had 38 points in just the second half. Utah had a 69-56 lead with 6 minutes left.

Van Dyke has made 7-of-8 three pointers in the game to that point.

The Utes cruised to the win after outscoring the Wildcats 52-44 in the second half.

Up Next

Utah improved to 14-10 overall and 8-4 in Pac-12 play. They have won three straight games and sit alone in second place in the Pac-12 standings.

The Utes will face Arizona State on Saturday at 8 p.m. on FS1. The Sun Devils are 16-8 overall and 7-5 in conference play.

Utah beat Arizona State 96-86 in Tempe on January 3.
