SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – University of Utah star running back Zack Moss leads the nation in broken tackles after the first two weeks of the college football season.

Moss broke 11 tackles in Utah’s 35-17 win over Northern Illinois on Saturday and broke 16 tackles against BYU to gather a total of 27.

Through two weeks, Moss has a big advantage over the second place player in broken tackles as Georgia Tech’s Jordan Mason with 19.

Against Northern Illinois, Moss had 60 of his 80 rushing yards come after first contact.

On top of breaking tackles, Moss is tied for ninth in college football and is in first place in the Pac-12 in rushing touchdowns with three. He also has 267 rushing yards on the season, which is good for ninth in FBS rankings.

The senior from Miami, Florida is close to breaking the school rushing yards record at Utah and currently has 2,918 career rushing yards. He needs 78 yards to pass Tony Lindsey (1977-80) for second and needs 302 yards to pass Eddie Johnson (1984-88) for first place with 3,219 yards.

Moss has a great chance of passing Lindsey on Saturday when the Utes host Idaho State in their final non-conference game of the season. Kickoff is set for 2:15 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network.
