OREM, Utah- College basketball season never seems to end now that we are in the transfer portal era, as players are continuously on the move throughout the offseason to new teams.

One player didn’t have to move far at all, as soon-to-be sophomore forward Isaac Davis is transferring from Utah State to Utah Valley to become a Wolverine.

Isaac Davis Transfers To Utah Valley

Isaac Davis, who was class of 2023, coming out of Hillcrest High School, originally committed to BYU before the departure of Mark Pope to Kentucky.

Following the coaching change, Davis switched his commitment from BYU to Utah State.

Isaac played in 19 games during his freshman year as an Aggie, averaging 2.1 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.

Davis’s best performance at Utah State came in the final game of the regular season against the Air Force Falcons. Isaac finished with seven points and two rebounds. He was 2-2 from the field and 3-3 from the free throw line.

Davis saw limited minutes throughout the year, only averaging 5.8, because of the several seniors and other experienced players on the roster.

“Isaac is an outstanding big who brings both physicality and athleticism to the floor,” said Head Coach Todd Phillips in a press release. “He’s going to be a problem down low with his combination of size and quickness. He was part of a high-level program last year and is ready for his time to shine. We’re excited to have him join our culture and contribute to our continued success.”

Isaac Davis will be joining a Utah Valley Wolverines team that will be mostly rebuilding. They lost the WAC Player of the Year Dominick Nelson (Iowa State), WAC Defensive Player of the Year Carter Welling (Clemson), and sharpshooter Tanner Toolson (TCU) to the transfer portal and are looking to add talent in order to once again compete for a WAC Championship next season.

Davis was a winner at Hillcrest High, leading the program to their first-ever state championship as a sophomore. Then they repeated as champions in 2023. Davis and the Knights were close to a three-peat, as they earned a runner-up finish during his senior campaign this past winter.

The 6-foot-7, 250-pound Davis averaged 15.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game in his three seasons at Hillcrest.

Davis is a three-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite rating and is the 158th-ranked prospect overall.

Davis received offers from Oklahoma, VCU, UNLV, Washington State, and others during his recruitment.
