UVU Adds Former UNLV Guard Trey Woodbury Via Transfer

OREM, Utah – Newly hired UVU basketball coach Mark Madsen announced another transfer to his program.
The Wolverines have landed former UNLV guard Trey Woodbury, who was three more years of eligibility.
“I am thrilled that Trey chose Utah Valley and I could not be more excited about him joining the Wolverine program,” Madsen said in a press release.
A 6-foot-4 guard from Las Vegas, Woodbury averaged 1.4 points and 0.7 rebounds per game in limited time with the Rebels.
Madsen said his shooting and creativity will be a big asset for the team.

“The signing of Trey Woodbury is a huge addition to our program,” said Madsen. “He is a unique player who is not only a top flight shooter but can break down defenses off the dribble and create for his teammates. Trey is an explosive athlete who attacks the rim and finishes with athleticism.”
Woodbury is the latest in a slew of transfer for UVU. On Wednesday the program also announced the arrival of former Akron forward Emmanuel Olajakpoke.
Madsen, who was hired to replace Mark Pope, who took the top job at BYU, has been relying heavily on the transfer portal to restock his team. The program lost several players to BYU, including last year’s Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Jake Toolson, in the wake of Pope’s move to the Cougars.
Last season, the Wolverines had a good year with a 25-10 record and a 12-4 mark in WAC play.
This upcoming season will be Madsen’s first as a head coach after years as assistant coach with the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers.
