Weber State Football Suffers Third Consecutive Home Loss

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State football team suffered its third straight loss at home as the Wildcats were defeated by the Montana State Bobcats.

The No. 18 Wildcats hosted the No. 9 Bobcats at Elizabeth Dee Shaw Stewart Stadium in Ogden, Utah on Friday, October 15.

Montana State beat Weber State, 13-7.

It was the third straight home loss suffered by the Wildcats this season.

Weber State started the game off strong and scored on the opening drive of the contest. The Wildcats capped a 10-play, 97-yard drive with a Josh Davis touchdown run with 10:38 left in the first quarter.

Bobcats quarterback Matthew McKay ran in a one-yard sneak to tie the game at 7-7 with less than two minutes to go before the second quarter.

Both schools were scoreless in the second quarter and went into the halftime break knotted up.

With 7:42 remaining in the third quarter, Montana State took the lead for the first time on a 46-yard field goal by Blake Glessner.

Less than four minutes later, Glessner drilled a 32-yard field goal to make it 13-7 Bobcats.

Both defenses held their opponents scoreless over the final 15 minutes and Montana State was able to go into victory formation to close out the contest.

The Wildcats committed a pair of turnovers on the night and lost Davis to a leg injury late in the game.

Davis finished the game with 13 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown.

Wildcats quarterback Bronson Barron was 16/29 passing for 215 yards in his first start since September 11.

With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 2-4 on the season, including 1-2 in Big Sky Conference games.

Weber State’s next game is against the Eastern Washington Eagles on Saturday, October 23 at 1 p.m. (MDT) on ESPN+.
