GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The No. 4 ranked Weber State Wildcats defeated No. 22 North Dakota on the road 35-30 for their third straight victory.

Weber State survived in a big road test against the Fighting Hawks, who gave the Wildcats all they could handle Saturday afternoon.

Almost Too Close For Comfort

The second quarter was a slugfest, ending in a touchdown by North Dakota in the final seconds to bring the score to 21-20 for Weber State. The Fighting Hawks then kicked a field goal in the opening drive of the second half to take a 23-21 lead. Jake Constantine threw his third touchdown pass of the game to retake the lead and Josh Davis added insurance with a 3-yard TD rush.

The Wildcats let North Dakota get back into the game when Trey Tuttle’s field goal attempt was blocked and taken back 60 yards for a Fighting Hawks touchdown with three minutes left to go in the game. Fortunately for Weber State, North Dakota could not retake the lead and the Wildcats escaped Grand Forks with a win.

By The Numbers

Constantine finished with 318 yards to go along with his three touchdown passes. He also rushed for another score. Wide receiver Darryl Denby hauled in two of Constantine’s TD tosses.

The Wildcats overcame nine penalties for a total of 100 yards. They were solid on third down, completing 8 of 16 opportunities while holding North Dakota to just 4 of 12.

Coming Up

Up next for the Wildcats is their regular season home finale against Sacramento State next Saturday at noon. The game will be broadcast on Pluto TV.
