Damar Hamlin Released From Cincinnati Hospital, Headed Back To Buffalo

SALT LAKE CITY – Doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center announced that Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin had been released from the hospital and was on his way back to New York state.
The doctors shared the news on Monday, January 9.
Hamlin’s release came less than a week after he collapsed on the field during Monday Night Football because of cardiac arrest.

“We are thrilled and proud to share that Damar Hamlin has been released from the hospital and returned to Buffalo,” doctors shared in a press conference. Hamlin will continue to receive medical care in Buffalo.

Dr. William Knight shared that Hamlin was “doing well” in his recovery up to this point.
“Headed home to Buffalo today with a lot of love on my heart,” Hamlin tweeted. “Watching the world come together around me on Sunday was truly an amazing feeling. The same love you all have shown me is the same love that I plan to put back into the world n more. Bigger than football!”

Damar Hamlin suffers cardiac arrest on Monday Night Football

The Cincinnati Bengals hosted the Bills for Week 17 on January 2.
With 6:12 remaining in the opening quarter, Hamlin tackled Bengals WR Tee Higgins and stood up before collapsing to the turf. After falling to the ground, Hamlin received CPR on the field before leaving the stadium in an ambulance.
Following the ambulance’s departure from the field, the game was temporarily suspended and both teams returned to the locker room.
A short time later, the game was officially postponed. The NFL eventually canceled the game and said it would not be rescheduled.
Later, it was announced that Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest. He spent nearly a week in the hospital in Cincinnati before returning to Buffalo.
