SEATTLE, Wash. – Well, it wasn’t pretty. And while that phrase is usually followed by news of the team in question winning, “it wasn’t pretty” is about the only way to describe the Seahawks’ 13-10 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Monday night.

Seattle was held out of the end zone for the final 55 minutes of clock time, missed two field goals in the second half, and had a key penalty before the Saints made a late field goal in windy and rainy conditions to leave town with the win.

The Seahawks fall to 2-5 on the season and have now lost three straight for the first time since 2011.

Here are some fast facts from Monday’s game.

Scoring plays and highlights

First half

The Seahawks brought some fireworks early as DK Metcalf hauled in a Geno Smith pass, took off, and 84 yards later had Seattle’s longest reception in 11 years to give the Hawks a 7-0 lead. Fittingly that 87-yard touchdown from 2010 was thrown by Matt Hasselbeck, who was inducted into the Seahawks’ Ring of Honor at halftime of Monday’s game.

Unfortunately, Metcalf wouldn’t get the ball again until the fourth quarter as a game-long offensive struggle was to follow for the Seahawks.

The Saints waited until late in the second quarter to get on the scoreboard, and that’s partially because they had an epically long field goal drive. New Orleans took a whopping 10:16 off the clock over a 19-play, 86-yard drive, which was capped by a 21-yard Brian Johnson kick to make 7-3.

New Orleans wasn’t done before haltime, though, taking a 10-3 lead on a 13-yard Alvin Kamara touchdown with 40 seconds left to finish up an seven-play, 85-yard series.

Second half

Seattle tied the game 10-10 on a Jason Myers field goal in the fourth quarter, but that was sandwiched by two Myers misses that loomed large at the end of the game.

The Saints, meanwhile, took the lead one last time on a 33-yard field goal by Johnson just inside of the two-minute warning. Making matters worse, they were lined up to attempt a 42-yard field goal five plays earlier, but Seahawks defensive tackle Al Woods was flagged for encroachment before the ball was snapped, giving New Orleans a fresh set of downs and allowing it to run even more time off the clock.

The Seahawks couldn’t do anything once they got the ball back, throwing an incomplete pass out of the end zone on fourth-and-28 with 1:04 left to go.

Up next for Seahawks

Seattle will stay at home to play the 1-5 Jacksonville Jaguars at 1:05 p.m. Sunday. Coverage will begin on 710 ESPN Seattle and KIRO Radio 97.3 FM with the pregame show at 10 a.m.
