NWSL Updates Fans On Potential Start Date For 2020 Season

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The NWSL has updated its fans on the current status of the league as it continues to prioritize the health and safety of its employees.
The league has extended their “team training moratorium through, and including, Friday, May 15. All “training facilities remain closed, except for medical treatment that cannot be performed at home.”

The 2020 season is still up in the air as league officials attempt to best judge an appropriate return date. The league will continue to implement it’s “stay at home” orders in which the players and staff must adhere to until further notice.
Prior to matches being played, there will be an “appropriate preseason training schedule” to allow players to return to full fitness and hopefully limit the number of injuries upon the return of play.
Every team will work with their local and state medical experts and governments to best judge how to integrate the return of training when that time comes.
“We thank all our players, clubs, and fans for complying with the isolation orders, as that is helping us “bend the curve” and achieve our common goal of returning to the field at the earliest opportunity. The league continues to stay in close communication with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and everyone’s health and safety remains our top priority. We will provide further updates as they become available.”
