Utah Native Kaysha Love, Team USA Positioned To Sweep Monobob Podium

MILAN, Italy — Utah native Kaysha Love and Team USA dominated the first two heats of the Bobsleigh Women’s Monobob event at the Milano Cortina Olympics on Sunday.
All three U.S. racers ended the first day of competition in the top five on the leaderboard.

Kaysha Love, Team USA Speed Through First Two Heats Of Monobob
Love started off extremely strongly for Team USA.
She posted a new track record and was 0.04 seconds off the start record. Somewhat unfortunately for Love, two other racers posted track records, and her time of 59.54 seconds placed her third after the opening round.
Still, only one tenth of a second behind first place, a first Olympic medal was well within play.

The second round wasn’t nearly as kind to Love, though.
Multiple errors caused her to lose more time than she was comfortable with, but she remained in pursuit. Finishing at 1:00.47, Love finished with the 15th-best time in the heat.
The first round performance allowed her to stay in the top five, but left some ground to make up tomorrow.
Team USA’s other two racers, Elana Meyers Taylor and Kaillie Armbruster Humphries, finished second and third, respectively. If the cards are in their favor, the U.S. could sweep the podium after heats three and four.
