MILAN, Italy — Park City native Matthew Greiner wrapped up his first-ever Olympics with the Luge Men’s Singles’ third and fourth runs on Sunday.
He was unable to make the podium, but he did make it through the third-run cut in his Olympic debut.

Greiner sat at 17th overall after the first two runs; he needed to stay within the top 20 in order to stay above the cut line and have a chance for a medal.
He posted the 19th-fastest time in the run (53.936 seconds), reaching a top speed of nearly 78.8 miles per hour.
That run was just enough to get him into the fourth and final round.
Unfortunately, his worst time came at the end of the competition. He went over 54 seconds for the first time and had the slowest run of any racer.

Still, as a 22-year-old in his first Olympics, going as far as he did was an impressive feat.
Greiner now looks forward to the upcoming World Cups, the 2030 French Alps games, and potentially even the 2034 Utah Olympic games.
