Team USA Misses Out On Women’s Snowboard Cross Finals

LIVIGNO, Italy – Team USA couldn’t capitalize on four racers in the women’s snowboard cross field, going without a medal in the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Games.
Salt Lake City resident Faye Thelen reached the semifinals before being eliminated.

Faye Thelen
Qualifying
Salt Lake resident Faye Thelen was the only member of Team USA who did not qualify on her first seeding run.
Thelen finished with a time of 1:16.08.
Qualifying 2
The five-time Olympian showed why she is one of the best in the world, finishing her second run in 1:14.62.
The time held up as the best in the round, moving Thelen into the quarterfinals.
1/8 Final
Thelen took an early lead in her heat, holding on for a narrow second-place finish to reach the quarterfinals.
The last U.S. competitor to qualify for the round became the first to reach the quarterfinals.
Stacy Gaskill
Qualifying
The first American to take the course, Stacy Gaskill, turned in a respectable time of 1:14.60 to qualify for the 1/8 final without needing a second seeding run.
1/8 Final
Gaskill immediately fell back to begin her run.
She moved into second midway through the heat and held on to advance.

Hanna Percy
Qualifying
The final Team USA member to ride, Hanna Percy, used her first run to advance.
Percy finished 15th with a time of 1:15.27, just ahead of Schnorrbusch.
1/8 Final
Percy immediately fell off the pace and into fourth once the gates dropped.
She jumped back into third, but a small mistake late took her out of the competition.
Brianna Schnorrbusch
Qualifying
University of Utah student Brianna Schnorrbusch opened the event with a time of 1:15.29.
1/8 Final
The 19-year-old was eliminated from the field in the first 1/8 final after finishing third in her heat.
Quarterfinal
The second quarterfinal heat featured both remaining members of Team USA.
Stacy Gaskill held second for much of the race, but a small stumble cost her positioning.
While her teammate fell to fourth, Faye Thelen put herself in a spot to make it a photo finish. Thelen eked out the second-place finish to reach the semifinals.
Semifinal 1
Thelen reached the final eight, setting up a semifinal heat against France’s Lea Casta, Switzerland’s Noemie Wiedmer, and Italian Michela Moiola.
The former Westminster student started slowly, falling to last out of the gates.
Thelen couldn’t make up the distance, finishing third and ending her Olympic medal dreams.
