Hilary Knight, Team USA Kick Off Winter Olympics With Dominant Victory Over Czechia

SALT LAKE CITY – Led by Captain and local athlete Hilary Knight, the United States Women’s Hockey Team opened up their Winter Olympic Tournament on Thursday afternoon with a commanding victory over Team Czechia.

Explosive offense fuels Team USA to victory over Czechia at Olympics

In addition to outshooting Czechia 42-14, Four different Americans tallied a goal enroute to a dominant 5-1 victory to begin the Women’s ice hockey tournament.

After Alex Carpenter opened the scoring in the first period, the United States turned up the heat in the middle frame as they outscored the Czechs 3-1.

As the Americans continually suffocated Czechia in their own zone with an outpouring of Grade A scoring chances, Knight finessed her way to the front of the net with blazing speed to register her first goal of the tournament.

A dominant victory for the United States to begin the women’s tournament as they defeat Czechia 5-1.

Who is Hilary Knight?

A native of Sun Valley, Idaho, Knight began playing hockey at the age of five when her family moved to Lake Forest, Illionis.

After playing college at the University of Wisconsin where she won two National Championships, Knight became the face of women’s hockey in the United States as she captured 10 World Championship gold medals and four Olympic medals.

When she’s not playing international hockey, Knight is the captain for the Seattle Torrent of the PWHL.

Notably, Knight trains part time in Utah with her partner and Team USA speed skater Brittany Bowe.

What’s next for Team USA Hockey?

Following their victory over Czechia, the United States Women’s hockey team will face Team Finland on Saturday at 8:40 a.m. MT.
