Three Local Athletes Flip, Weave Through Freestyle Moguls Event

MILAN, Italy — Three Team USA skiers with local ties competed in the Freestyle Skiing Men’s Dual Moguls event at the Milano Cortina Olympics on Sunday.
University of Utah student Charlie Mickel, and Utah residents Landon Wendler and Nick Page made up 75 percent of the U.S. team.

Team USA Attacks Freestyle Moguls Event At 2026 Games
The opening round was about as successful as possible for the Americans.
Three of the four skiers won their pairing to advance to the second round. Wendler was the only one to get bounced, but he lost to his teammate, Mickel.
Once again, the second round saw all but one U.S. athlete make it through. Mickel and Dylan Walczyk posted two of the three best scores, while Page went outside of the gates, resulting in a DNF.

The quarterfinals were where Team USA had a podium appearance slip its grasp.
Up against Australia’s Matt Graham, Mickel avoided a big error but sacrificed a clean run in the process, posting a final score of 15. Walczyk had a similar fate, and both Americans finished in the top eight but failed to crack the semifinals.
