Run One
Hamill was the first to click in her skis.
The first run wasn’t perfect, but she made it through all six jump and jibbing features on her way to a 47.91 first-round score.
Hamill’s best scores came on the back half of the course, putting together a Cab 720 Tail Grab, a Left-side 540 Mute Grab, and ending off with a Switch Right-side 720 Japan Grab.
Later in the order came Henderson. After an early fall, she finished her run and posted a score of 0.60.
At the end of the first round, Hamill was the only local to land above the cut line at ninth. The top 12 scores advance to the final on February 9. Of note, the scores in each run are not combined, and the highest individual run score is what is used for each athlete.
Run Two
With many athletes turning up the heat in their second run to either crack the top-12 or improve on their opening score, an early mistake for Hamill forced her to take her first run score.
A slip on the second section rail quickly turned the run into a throwaway. With a Right-side 360 Nose Grab in section four and a Left-side 180 in section five, Hamill got a 30.91 for her second run.
Henderson’s second run was much improved on her first.
Needing close to a 50 to crack the top 12, she was able to do just that. Ending with a Right-side 900 Tail Grab, a Switch Left-side 540 Japan Grab, and a Left-side 900 Tail Grab, the judges gave Henderson a 49.78 for her second run.
This put her in the tenth spot. However, it was bittersweet, as the score bumped her teammate Hamill to 13th and out of contention for the final.
By the end of the second round, both Hamill and Henderson were on the outside looking in, finishing at 16th and 15th, respectively.
