Brighton Lacrosse Alumni Honor Seniors After Season Cut Short Due To Coronavirus Pandemic

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Brighton lacrosse team were the favorites to a state championship this year but their season was cut short.
The Bengals along with every high school in the state of Utah didn’t finish their seasons in spring sports due to the coronavirus pandemic.
For the seniors on those spring sports teams, that meant that their high school careers are over.
It was the first season that lacrosse was sanctioned as a sport by the Utah High School Activities Association.
Brighton lacrosse alumni honored the seniors who didn’t get to finish their season.
They went from house to house while the seniors sat in their front yards. The alumni rode by in their cars while honking and waving with their vehicles decorated.
“To have that taken away really hurts,” said former Brighton lacrosse player Bubba Fairman. “I know a lot of these kids were gutted. So, we wanted to support them in any way that we could.”
One of the players who didn’t finish his season was touched by what the community did to honor the seniors.
“Knowing that they are thinking about us and still watching us shows a lot about our community at Brighton High School,” said Brighton senior Kyler Kehl.

How Do I Prevent It?
The CDC has some simple recommendations, most of which are the same for preventing other respiratory illnesses or the flu:
- Avoid close contact with people who may be sick
- Avoid touching your face
- Stay home when you are sick
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. Always wash your hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

If you see evidence of PRICE GOUGING, the Utah Attorney General’s Office wants you to report it. Common items in question include toilet paper, water, hand sanitizer, certain household cleaners, and even cold medicine and baby formula.
