Brighton’s Lander Barton Named Semifinalist For High School Butkus Award

SALT LAKE CITY – The Butkus Award named Brighton High School’s Lander Barton as a high school semifinalist for the 2021 season.

Barton, a receiver and linebacker for the Bengals’ football team, was recognized as one of 16 semifinalists for the high school honor.

This season, Barton had 37 catches for eight touchdowns on offense. As a linebacker, Barton accumulated 122 tackles, eight sacks, two interceptions, and two touchdowns.

Barton and the Bengals finished the season with an 8-3 record.

The Brighton standout is the younger brother of a pair of former Utah Utes and current NFL players, Cody (Seattle Seahawks) and Jackson (Las Vegas Raiders).

Barton is a four-star prospect for the class of 2022, according to 247Sports.

He currently holds offers from Michigan, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Arizona State, Colorado, LSU, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Virginia, Washington, and Washington State.
