Dave Peck Returns To Bingham As Head Coach

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Bingham High School has a new football coach but he isn’t new to the Miners football program.

Dave Peck is returning to Bingham where he coached for 15 years from 2000-2014 and led the Miners to five state titles.

Bingham principal Rodney Shaw announced the hiring Friday on twitter. Peck will also return to teaching at the school.

Peck will replace his longtime assistant John Lambourne who took over the program when Peck retired after the 2014 season. Lambourne announced his retirement in November after leading the program to two state titles in his 5 years as head coach.

Peck had a 154-37 record during his first run at Bingham and led the program to state titles in 2006, 2009 2010, 2013 and 2014. Bingham had gone 60 years without winning a state title before Peck led the Miners to a 14-0 record and a 21-19 win over Alta in the 5A state championship.

Bingham became a Utah powerhouse and gained national prominence. His 2014 team finished the season ranked No. 8 in the country by USA Today.

He developed many players that went on to have successful college football careers including Harvey Langi and Star Lotulelei who are currently playing in the NFL.

Peck was also the head coach at North Sanpete and Cyprus during his 31-year coaching career and has a 181-70 overall record.
