Instant Replay: Jamaal Williams, Penei Sewell Play Lions ‘Guess Who?’ Game

SALT LAKE CITY – Local players and NFL teammates Jamaal Williams and Penei Sewell had fun playing against each other in a game of Detroit Lions “Guess Who?”
Guess Who? is a classic guessing game made by Hasbro.
According to the company, “each player chooses a mystery character and then using yes or no questions, they try to figure out the other player’s mystery character. When they think they know who their opponent’s mystery character is, players make a guess. If the guess is wrong, that player loses the game! Players can also challenge opponents to a series of games in the Championship Series, where the first player to win 5 games is the Guess Who? champion.”
The Lions decided to put their own twist on the classic children’s game.
Williams and Sewell faced each other and the former Desert Hills standout asked had a small “mystery character” of the former BYU star in front of him.
“Are you faster than this person?” Williams asked Sewell, trying to understand the secret. “Like you think you could beat him a 40 [yard dash]?”
“Could I?’ Sewell pondered out loud before stating he couldn’t with a smile.

The duo helped the Lions to a 9-8 record this season. Detroit barely missed the playoffs.
Williams finished the year with 262 carries for 1,066 yards and a franchise-record 17 touchdowns.

Jamaal Williams
Before his time in the NFL, Williams was a star at BYU. He finished his time in Provo as the Cougars’ all-time leading rusher in both career and single-yard yards.
During his time at BYU (2012-14, 2016), Williams ran the ball 726 times for 3,901 yards and 35 touchdowns. He also had 60 receptions for 567 yards and a touchdown. Williams only lost two fumbles during his college career.
Following his time at BYU, the Southern California native was selected by the Green Bay Packers during the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He played the first four seasons of his professional career with the Packers before signing with the Lions in 2021.
Williams has run for 3,652 yards and 30 touchdowns during his six seasons in the league.

Penei Sewell
Before his time in college and the NFL, Sewell was a star player for the Desert Hills Thunder in St. George, Utah.
As a senior in high school, Sewell participated in the All-American Bowl and Polynesian Bowl.247Sports rated Sewell as the No. 1 prospect in the state of Utah for the 2018 class.
Following his high school days, Sewell chose to play football for the Oregon Ducks. As a freshman in 2018, Sewell was an immediate starter for the Ducks. He played in seven contests during his first season in Eugene, Oregon. In 2019, Sewell played in 14 games and helped Oregon win the Pac-12 Championship. He also helped the Ducks win the Rose Bowl Game against Wisconsin. Sewell was honored with the Outland Trophy for his outstanding play as a sophomore. The Outland Trophy is presented annually to the best interior lineman in college football.

Rather than play in 2020, Sewell opted out of playing as a junior because of the coronavirus pandemic. During the year off, Sewell prepared for the NFL.
Sewell was selected by the Lions with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
He was selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time this season.
