Week 6: Friday night’s Utah high school football roundup

SALT LAKE CITY – Thunderstorms delivered a delayed start for many games along the Wasatch Front as Utah high school football battled through Week 6.

Corner Canyon took down Lone Peak in the Game Night Live Game of the Week, but that was just one domino in a long line across Utah under the rain-bathed lights.

Here’s the skinny on what did and didn’t happen amidst the storms in Week 6.

Region 1

Syracuse 30, Layton 0

Syracuse (3-3) relied on a stout defense, including a pick-six from Bo Metcalfe, and two touchdown passes from Ledger Wright to improve to .500 for the season. It is the Lancers’ second consecutive shutout loss.

Farmington 30, Weber 13

Farmington (3-3) traveled to face Weber and handed the Warriors a 30-13 loss, giving both programs a .500 record. Kava Fiefia caught two of Alton Dahl’s three touchdown passes, including TDs from 77 yards and 52 yards.

Region 2

Herriman vs. Westlake – POSTPONED

Copper Hills vs. Cedar Valley – POSTPONED

Bingham 31, Riverton 21

The Miners (2-4) earned their second win after outscoring Region 2 rival Riverton 21-7 in the second half. Inko Vahe had a 31-yard pick-six for Bingham.

Region 3

Lone Peak 14, Corner Canyon 37  – Game Night Live Game of the Week

Corner Canyon caught fire after a scoreless opening quarter, scoring twice in the second period to take a 14-7 halftime lead. Chargers QB Jaxon Pehrson added his third rushing touchdown after the break, and the Corner Canyon defense took over from there. Diesel Dart and Will Tenney added pick-sixes to lift Corner Canyon to the win.

Region 4

Hunter 37, West Jordan 27

The Wolverines (1-5) picked up their first win of 2026, scoring in every quarter to take down West Jordan (2-4). Abbas Aweis caught two long touchdown passes for Hunter.

Hillcrest 6, West 55

It was all Panthers on Friday night as undefeated West (6-0) piled up six rushing touchdowns in a blowout win. Kamden Lopati threw two touchdowns and ran one in from 65 yards out to open the scoring.

Region 5

West Field 42, Clearfield 14

West Field (4-2) scored in every quarter to pull away from Clearfield (2-4). The Longhorns scored 14 points in each of the first and fourth periods.

Roy 35, Bonneville 0

Two struggling teams matched up, and Roy (2-4) prevailed in a blowout. Gunner Pearson tossed three touchdown passes for the Royals.

Northridge 17, Fremont 31

Northridge (2-4) jumped out to an early lead, but couldn’t overcome being outscored 17-0 between the second and third quarters. Fremont (4-2) held on for the two-touchdown victory as both teams found the end zone twice in the final 12 minutes.

Region 6

Olympus 10, Alta 23

Weather delays marred Alta’s (4-2) takedown of Olympus (2-4). Hawks quarterback Xavier Cocci threw for a touchdown and ran for another.

Woods Cross 7, Bountiful 28

Bountiful (3-2) leaned on a pair of rushing touchdowns for Ami Vunipola to take down Woods Cross. The Wildcats fell to 2-4 this season.

Viewmont 19, Brighton 14

Two rushing touchdowns from Brett Tovey helped bookend Viewmont’s (3-3) takedown of Brighton.

Region 7

Maple Mountain vs. Timpview – POSTPONED

Pleasant Grove vs. Spanish Fork – POSTPONED

Payson 0, Springville 48

It was all Red Devils as Springville (4-2) cruised to a 48-0 shutout win over Payson. Sam Nadauld caught three of Beckett Burton’s four touchdown passes.

Region 8

Uintah 17, Wasatch 16

Uintah (3-3) needed an 18-yard field goal with 2:15 left to earn a much-needed win. Kache Barney scored on a 31-yard reception and a 22-yard run for the Utes.

Mountain View 49, Deer Creek 10

Mountain View improved to 3-3 with the blowout win. Ratu Malungahu scored two rushing TDs, and Brighamn Moses added touchdowns through the air and on the ground for the Bruins.

Timpanogos vs. Salem Hills – POSTPONED

Park City vs. Provo – POSTPONED

Region 9

Dixie 10, Hurricane 49

A dream season continues for Hurricane (6-0) with a 39-point dismantling of the Flyers. The Tigers scored 35 unanswered points between the second and third quarters for a comfortable win.

Crimson Cliffs 38, Desert Hills 0

Crimson Cliffs (4-2) rebounded from a one-point loss to Hurricane the week before with a shutout of Desert Hills. QB Tonoai Andresen and RB Hi Alisa combined for all five Mustangs’ touchdowns.

Snow Canyon 28, Pine View 25

In by far the closest Region 9 game of the week, Snow Canyon (4-2) withstood a late push from Pine View (4-2) to earn the one-score win. Warriors QB Parker Olson ran for two touchdowns and threw for another to spearhead the victory.

Region 10

Jordan 12, Skyline 55

Skyline (3-3) scored twice in less than four minutes between the first and second quarters and never looked back. Saia Vake scored two rushing touchdowns for the Eagles.

East 21, Murray 38

The Murray Spartans (5-1) used a 28-point first half to take down winless East. Murray QB Dru Reuss scored three touchdowns, running for two TDs and finding Chase Mower for a 50-yard touchdown pass.

Region 11

Bear River 47, Tooele 33

Bear River (4-2) fell behind early, but two Eli Braegger touchdown catches from QB Preston Wilkinson set up a back-and-forth final period. The Bears scored 20 points in the fourth quarter to pull away by two touchdowns.

Ridgeline 49, Deseret Peak 7

The Ridgeline (6-0) steamroller keeps moving with a dominant win over winless Deseret Peak. Noah Fiefia exploded for five touchdowns as the Riverhawks continued their tour de force through Region 11.

Stansbury 34, Mountain Crest 27

Stansbury (5-1) handed the Mustangs their third consecutive loss. The Stallions outscored Mountain Crest 20-7 in the second half to get the win.

Sky View 19, Green Canyon 13

The Bobcats (3-3) kept the good times rolling as their strong defense held Green Canyon to 13 points.  Sky View’s Rad Sparrow and Adam Semanoff each scored on one-yard runs.

NONREGION GAMES

American Fork 29, Davis 21

American Fork (5-1) ground out a one-score win to finish non-region play against always-dangerous Davis (3-3).

Mountain Ridge 54, Chaparral (CA) 41

Mountain Ridge (6-0) remained unblemished after dispatching the Chaparral Pumas to conclude non-region play. Marshall West caught two touchdown passes for 93 yards, and Jayce Helm added a pick-six to keep the team undefeated.

Thursday results (Sept. 17)

Skyridge 28, Lehi 20

No. 3 Skyridge (5-1) held off the Pioneers on the road in a Region 3 Thursday-night clash. Falcon quarterback Jagger Fountiane threw three touchdown passes and ran for a fourth, accounting for every Skyridge touchdown.

Juan Diego 48, Cottonwood 3

The Soaring Eagle (1-5) dominated from start to finish in a blowout win over Cottonwood. Quarterback Jacoby Ahlstrom threw three TD passes and ran for two more as Juan Diego scored 48 points.

Cyprus 27, Taylorsville 0

The Pirates (1-4) picked up their first win of the season to open Region 4 play. Cyprus wide receiver Gunner Fredrickson caught two touchdown passes.

Granger 34, Kearns 0

The Lancers (2-4) earned their second win of the season in a 34-0 shutout of Kearns. Five different Granger players scored in the victory.
