PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball enters the early signing period for college hoops with two commitments in its 2024 class.

The Cougars added a much-needed combo guard earlier this week by landing Brooks Bahr. Bahr is a Fort Worth, Texas, native who can score from all levels. He picked BYU over a final five of Wake Forest, Utah, USC, and Saint Mary’s.

Bahr joined forward Isaac Davis from Hillcrest, Idaho, as the two commits in BYU’s class. Davis picked BYU over offers from Oklahoma, UNLV, VCU, and Washington State.

The question with BYU’s class is how does it stack up in the new 16-team Big 12 Conference?

Entering National Signing Day on November 8th, 2023, BYU boasts the No. 53 class nationally in the 247Sports Team Composite rankings. BYU’s class ranks 11th out of 16 teams in the Big 12.

Remember, these rankings are fluid as there will be another signing period for the 2024 class beginning on April 17 that runs through May 15.

BYU doesn’t appear to be finished after landing Bahr and Davis. Last week, BYU coaches offered 7-foot-2 JUCO center Anton Bonke from Eastern Arizona College. Bonke has piled up numerous offers from mid-major programs, but BYU remains his lone power conference offer.

Perhaps the most significant addition for BYU in 2024 will be the return of Latter-day Saint missionary Collin Chandler. The highest-rated commit in the internet era for BYU signed in 2022 but opted to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before enrolling. He hits his two-year mark next July.

Chandler was a significant addition to the BYU basketball program. Still, his recruiting accolades out of Farmington High School as the No. 37 prospect in the nation only count towards the 2022 class.

The early signing period for college basketball runs from November 8 until November 15, 2023.
