SALT LAKE CITY – The 2022 NBA Draft is nearly here and basketball fans will tune in to find out which players are selected by the league’s 30 franchises.

The 2022 NBA Draft takes place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Thursday, June 23.

This year’s draft features 30 first round selections and 28 second round picks. The second round has two fewer picks than usual due to tampering violations committed by the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks in recent years.

The 2022 NBA Draft is slated to begin at 6 p.m. (MDT).

Utah Jazz in the 2022 NBA Draft

The Utah Jazz entered draft day without a first or second round in this year’s event. sports.ksl.com’s Ben Anderson projected some possible players that the Jazz could select if they are able to acquire a second round pick.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Udoka Azubuike, and Jared Butler are the only three Jazz players still under rookie contracts with the team, and getting younger will be a key goal for the roster going forward.

Though the Jazz don’t have a first-round pick, they’ll be able to buy a second-round selection on draft night if they choose to, or can scour the players who go undrafted later Thursday night looking for ways to improve the team.

Last season, the Jazz had a 49-33 record in the regular season and earned the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference.

Despite not having Luka Dončić for the first three games of the first round series with the Jazz, the Dallas Mavericks eliminated Utah in six games. The Mavericks won two of the first three games and closed out the series with a pair of consecutive victories. Dallas won two games in Salt Lake City, including a closeout Game 6.

The season-ending result led many NBA experts to project a roster overhaul by the Jazz this offseason.
