SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – sports.ksl.com’s Bracket of Movies continues with a matchup of the 12 and 21 seeds.
The 12 seed in the tournament, The Wrestler, originally hit theatres in 2008. Starring Mickey Rourke, the film follows the saga of an aging wrestler whose best days are behind him. While preparing for a 20th-anniversity rematch of his most famous moment as a professional wrestler, Randy “The Ram” Robinson, confronts his failing health and attempts to rekindle a relationship with his estranged daughter. The film received rave reviews from critics and revitalized Rourke’s career.
The Wrestler faces Rudy, the 21 seed in the bracket. One of the most inspiring sports movies of all time, Rudy is the true story of a young man who dreams of one day playing football for Notre Dame. Despite a variety of setbacks and challenges, Rudy’s valiant struggle to beat the long odds inspired his friends, family and teammates along the way. The movie ends in dramatic fashion as Rudy finds the field in a Fighting Irish game and is carried off the field by his teammates. This 1993 release is an all-timer.
