SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Oklahoma head football coach Lincoln Riley told the media on Thursday that he doesn’t want student-athletes rushed back to campus.

Riley spoke with the Oklahoma media and was very adamant that college football players shouldn’t be rushed back to campus and getting players back by June 1.

The Oklahoma coach said that is “one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard.”

Riley further explained his reasoning for not rushing players back.

“In my opinion, we need to bring them in as late as we possibly can before we play a season,” Riley said. “Every day early that we bring them in is a day we could have gotten better. It’s a day we could’ve learned more about the virus. It’s a day PPE maybe gets better. It’s a day closer to a vaccine. It’s a day that our testing equipment and testing capabilities get better and it’s just not worth it. So, we’ve gotta be patient. We get one shot at this, and we’ve gotta do it right.”

According to college football insider Brett McMurphy from Stadium, SEC Presidents will vote next week whether to bring student-athletes back on June 1.

West Virginia President Gordon Gee told a local news station that they are going to play college football in the fall based on what is safe and healthy for fans and student-athletes.
