Salt Lake City’s Kyra Condie Places 11th, Barely Misses Sports Climbing Final

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Salt Lake City based Olympian Kyra Condie placed 11th and failed to qualify for the Sports Climbing Final at the Tokyo Olympics.

Condie barley missed out on placing in the top ten and qualifying for the event’s final on Friday, August 5.

Great Britain’s Shauna Coxsey edged Condie by 15.000 points for 10th place in Sports Climbing’s Olympic debut.

Sports Climbing consists of speed climbing, bouldering, and lead climbing.

Speed Climbing

During the speed qualification, Condie climbed the 15 meter wall in 8.12 seconds in the left lane of Lane A. During his climb in Lane B. Condie made it to the top in 8.08 seconds.

She placed seventh in the speed qualification.

Condie recorded the following performance during the bouldering portion of the qualification round:

She placed 11th in bouldering.

Lead Climbing

Condie recorded a hold reached of 22+ in lead climbing. The result gave her 11.00 combined points. She finished in 11th place in the event.
