SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Champions League and 2020 European Football Championship, along with countless other top-tier European Leagues, are the latest to be affected by the novel Coronavirus.

The Champions League, which is Europe’s largest and most prestigious club football competition, will suspend play effective immediately. This news comes following the suspension of play in La Liga, Real Madrid being quarantined, three Leicester City players showing symptoms, Seria A suspended with multiple players testing positive for Coronavirus, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 to be played behind closed doors, the list goes on, and on, and on.

The Premier League has not made any decision thus far to suspend play, however, it seems as though that it will only be a matter of time before some precautionary measures are taken.

It is also reported that the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship, otherwise referred to as Euro 2020, will be suspended until 2021. The tournament was scheduled to take place between 12 June-12 July across 12 different host cities.
