Two Fourth Down Stops Highlight First Quarter Of Rivalry Game

PROVO, Utah – The first quarter of the beginning of the college football season between the University of Utah and BYU was full of big stops on defense.
The Cougars’ first drive of the game was stopped when quarterback Zach Wilson threw an incomplete pass to tight end Matt Bushman.
Utah took advantage of the stop by using running back Zack Moss, who had four carries for 27 yards that led to a 41-yard field goal by kicker Andrew Strauch to put the Utes up 3-0.

BYU would punt the ball back to Utah. The Utes turned the ball over on downs when quarterback Tyler Huntley tried to scramble to the first down marker but received a hard hit from BYU defensive back Dayan Ghanwoloku, who forced the Utes to turn the ball over on downs.
When BYU had the ball back, they used Aleva Hifo and Ty’Son Williams to get down the field and set up a field goal by Jake Oldroyd from 32-yards to tie the game at 3 in the second quarter.

Utah holds an eight game winning streak over the Cougars and enter the season ranked No. 14 in the country.
