PROVO– With record breaking temperatures this summer, the need to find sweet relief from the heat has been real. University of Utah President Taylor Randall simply drove a few miles south to the BYU Creamery to beat the summer heat with his cabinet and a handful of other officials who were participating in the “Utah Across Utah” tour.

BYU’s Twitter account tweeted a picture of Randall standing in line for his sugary, creamy treat- allegedly caramel and pralines.

Utah, BYU Rivalry On Ice

The Utes and Cougars will be taking a rare break from the rivalry this upcoming football season, though both schools will be in Florida on September 3rd to open their seasons against Florida and South Florida respectively. After nine straight wins for Utah, BYU was able to get a little revenge ahead of the hiatus in 2021, beating the Utes for the first time in 12 years at LaVell Edwards Stadium 26-17. The Utes and Cougars will pick-up the rivalry again in 2024 after Utah finishes their home-and-home series with the Gators.

Despite the loss last season, the Utes still lead the series 53-30-4 or 50-30-4 depending on who you ask.

Both teams are in position for big seasons in 2022 returning a large chunk of their talent from successful 2021 campaigns and have gotten some College Football Playoff hype as potential dark horses.

Last season the Utes ended their year on a high note winning their first Pac-12 Championship and earning their first Rose Bowl appearance after extreme tragedy losing two teammates in the span of nine months. The Utes will be looking to repeat as Pac-12 Champions in 2022, but will be hoping for either a Rose Bowl win or a Playoff berth to end their year.

BYU on the other hand finished their season 10-3, but late injuries into their season derailed a bit of momentum. In 2022, the Cougars will be looking for a little better health to end their year that could possibly lead to a New Years Six Bowl or possibly even a Playoff berth as well.
