SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz are cruising of late and there is no real need for a shakeup to the roster, but what if they could land one of the best players in the NBA like New Orleans Pelicans Anthony Davis?

Well, that is a conversation worth listening to.

For the Jazz to realistically land Davis it would require giving up a lot to make a deal work to be able to match his $25 million per year salary. Trading valuable assets is a non-starter plus consider that Davis is keen on joining the Los Angeles Lakers.

However, what if there was a deal on the table to have the Utah Jazz give up the Jazz nickname and return it back to New Orleans as part of a deal?

Utah kept the Jazz name when the franchised moved from New Orleans to Salt Lake City back in 1979, so it would make complete sense that New Orleans would want to get back a nickname that makes a lot of sense to the New Orleans-area.

Also, if we are being honest the Jazz nickname has nothing to do with the state of Utah, so why not toss it in as an outside the box potential deal to land Davis?

“It has no association with Utah, it doesn’t incite fear, or intimidation from anyone you are playing and is kind of silly,” said KSL’s Unrivaled co-host Scott Mitchell on the Jazz nickname..

KSL’s Unrivaled decided to have some fun about renaming the Utah Jazz to a more appropriate name that represents the state.

Hosts Mitchell and Alex Kirry roll through a bunch of names that are associated with the state of Utah to find the right one. They start of with the state bird but that is a bad choice because it is the California Gull so that is a no starter. Another is the quaking aspen which does not exactly instill fear as a team name.

The one name that the two sort of agree upon would be to go from the Utah Jazz to the Utah Cutthroat which would be named after the state fish. Mitchell adds one more element to the nickname: “we will filet you.”

Have a listen to the rest of these pitches.
