SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – What offensive position group for Utah Football will rise to the occasion and take this program to new heights? Will Charlie Brewer live up to the expectation?

Ahead of the 2021 college football season Utah football still has many questions that require answers.

Utah’s defense will survive and excel, much as it has done for the better part of two decades. Inevitably, players on the defensive side of the ball will surprise and thrive under the college football elements.

Offensively, however, can Utah football win Pac-12 games without relying on the running game as heavily as it has over the years? Utah football must be dynamic and show that they are a threat throwing the football if they hope to seriously contend for the Pac-12 Championship.

Newly expected QB1 for Utah is Baylor transfer Charlie Brewer who has excelled at practice and around the team so far. Cam Rising will return to full health by fall camp and Kyle Whittingham will determine who starts for his team during those hot summer days. But, it is expected that Brewer wins the job and takes over the reins.

Can he be the player that Utah football believes he can be? Will he really be able to play his game and be aggressive throwing the rock or will Utah go back to its conservative ways and run the ball far too frequently.

The running back group is talented, without question. Chris Curry, TJ Pledger and Micah Bernard headline the tailbacks and will inevitably get their carries. One player will likely find form and receive more reps than the others but Utah is deep at the running back spot.

If Utah is serious about winning the Pac-12 Championship they will become more aggressive throwing the ball, they will take an educated risk and they will always look to expose opposing defenses deep down the field.

Brewer can be the answer if they allow him to be, however, history suggests that can be easier said than done when crunch time approaches.
