Utah County High School Player of the Week – Week 3 – Ryder Hales

SALT LAKE CITY – The Mr. Mac Utah County High School Player of the Week is awarded each week to the top prep football players in Utah County. It honors athletes for their performances on the gridiron and exceptional play. Our winner this week was Salem Hills High School quarterback Ryder Hales.

Utah County Player of the Week – Ryder Hales (Salem Hills)

Salem Hills entered week three of the season looking to bounce back against West Field High School after a rivalry loss to Spanish Fork High School the week prior. It was the Longhorns who struck first in the contest with a first quarter safety as they held the 2-0 lead until Hales hooked up with Joe Hughes for a 53-yard touchdown early in the second quarter. The teams traded scores the rest of the half with the Longhorns taking a 15-10 lead into the locker room.

The Skyhawks emerged from the break with a vengeance as they outscored the Longhorns 23-0 in the second half as Hales tossed two more touchdown passes in the eventual 33-15 victory to improve their record to 2-1. Hales finished the night completing 25-of-35 passes for 355 yards and three touchowns while also rushing for 39 yards.
