The Utah County High School Player of the Week is awarded each week to the top prep football players in Utah County. It honors athletes for their performances on the gridiron and exceptional play. Our winner this week was Orem running back Beckham Curtis.
Utah County Player of the Week – Beckham Curtis, Orem
Orem flexed their rushing attack on a Friday night to power themselves to a 42-14 region win over the Springville Red Devils. The Orem offense finished the game with 417 total rushing yards and 6 total rushing touchdowns. How about Beckham Curtis finishing with half of the entire rushing production for the Tigers? Beckham finished his night with 19 carries, 254-yards and 3 touchdowns!
Orem was on the bounce back, looking to get back into the win column to start up region 7 play, having lost a close one to Mater Dei a week ago. The Springville Red Devils would strike first early in the first quarter, before the Tigers took control. Beckham ran in for his first touchdown of the night off a 33-yard rush in the second quarter. That score was followed up by a 68-yard highlight run to punch it in for another six early in the third quarter. Finally, Beckham would score his third touchdown of a quick 10-yard attempt late in the third to seal the win for Orem.
