SALT LAKE CITY – The Mr. Mac Utah County High School Player of the Week is awarded each week to the top prep football players in Utah County. It honors athletes for their performances on the gridiron and exceptional play. Our winner this week was Payson High School quarterback Trevyn Wall.
Utah County Player of the Week – Trevyn Wall, Payson
The Payson Lions found themselves in deep hole last Friday, trailing Wasatch High School 33-0 in the third quarter of their Region 7 battle. Wall and his teammates then found a spark on offense as they mounted a 37-0 run to set the state-record for largest deficit overcome to win in Utah high school football history and pick up their first region win in the process.
Wall ignited the comeback with a touchdown pass to Bryson Gull with 7:02 to go in the third quarter. He would add another touchdown later in the quarter along with converting both two-point conversions as they halved the Wasps’ lead. In the fourth quarter he would toss two more touchdown passes and then complete the epic comeback with a one-yard touchdown plunge with 28 seconds remaining. He finished the game with completing 32-of-51 passes for 432 yards four touchdowns and one interception while also leading Payson with 53 rushing yards and the aforementioned game-winning touchdown run
