Tanner Mangum Participated In XFL Summer Showcase

HOUSTON, TX. – Former BYU Football quarterback Tanner Mangum continues to pursue a professional football career.
Mangum was invited to participate in an XFL Showcase, a 100-man event that was invitation-only. 50 players on offense and 50 players on defense were invited. Mangum was one of five quarterbacks who participated in the Houston Showcase.
The XFL’s official Twitter page sent out a tweet that showed Mangum in a picture with XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck.

The Summer Showcase in Houston was the second XFL showcase this month. The previous one was in Dallas. The XFL Showcase is similar to that of the NFL Combine where athletes run the 40-yard dash, three-cone drill, vertical, and individual position drills.
Back in May, Mangum participated in minicamps in the NFL for the Oakland Raiders and Detroit Lions. Mangum did not receive contracts from either team out of those camps.
The XFL will begin to play in February 2020, one week after the NFL season concludes. Eight cities have been designated to have teams in the revival of this new football league. Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, St. Louis, Seattle, Tampa Bay, and Washington D.C. are the cities that will have teams. Each team will have 45-man rosters which are a total of 360 players that will be selected to play in WWE CEO Vince McMahon’s second attempt at professional football.
In Mangum’s career at BYU, he threw for 6,262 passing yards, 39 touchdowns, 24 interceptions, and had a completion percentage of 59.7 percent in 33 games played during his four seasons with the Cougars.
